William Shakespeare - Romeo and Juliet
William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
Penguin Edition 1937 - just two years after the birth of Penguin Books. First edition complete with original dust cover and bus ticket used to mark the original owner's place in Act 4!
Includes a chronological list of Shakespeare's works, a short biography of Shakespeare, a note of Elizabethan theatre, an introduction to the play and notes and glossary. Reports to be a closer reproduction of the text used by Shakespeare's own company that any other edition available at the time.
Condition: Truly outstanding considering age. Dust cover has a small piece missing top right corner and is a little scuffed at the edges. Underneath the book is identical to the dust cover and is creased at the top right corner. Very minor yellowing to pages. Acts one and two pulling away from their stitching a little. Fading to dust cover spine but minimal to book beneath.
