Heinemann Children's Book Club 1958 edition. Hardback. Cream board with black text beneath exceptionally rare original dust jacket (unclipped). Beautiful pictorial endpapers. Illustrated thoroughly throughout by Janet and Anne Grahame-Johnstone.

We are thrilled to able to offer for sale this gorgeous and rare book. From 1958, two years after it was originally published, this copy is almost identical to the rare and sought after first edition - the only difference being the colour of the book beneath the dust jacket. We have never found anything like this in this shape and it has clearly been loved and looked after all these years.

Condition: Some minor scuffing and small tears to edges. Some fading to spine (originally cream with pink at top and bottom which is still just visible). Some very minor yellowing to pages. Faint tan line on end paper at front and back (perhaps discolourisation from a bookmark?). Some very minor marks on pages here and there. Overall quite outstanding considering age.
