Highly aesthetic 1950 Penguin First Edition with incredibly rare original dust jacket.

We hardly ever find Penguin Classics with their original dust jackets. These covers replicate the cover artwork underneath but have a few extra details on the leaves. They were almost always lost or discarded.

Penguin Classics of this era are a teal colour that is quite difficult to photograph - they are very close to the blue of Pelicans but with a hint of Penguin Crime green.

Condition: Protective tape added to the top and bottom of the spine long ago and now yellowed (hidden underneath dust jacket). Minor scuffing to edges. Dust jacket shows some wear and minor tearing to edges. Tanning to spine on jacket.
